Today I went to Duquesne’s open house. I took a tour, found out that it’s extra easy to double major in English and Public Relations and Advertising and I can minor in History. I learned that being an honors student is still pretty easy and all 30 of my credits should transfer and they might help me get a job even though I don’t qualify for Work Study. I saw a room and the green and the Academic Walk and it’s just so perfect. I got a sweatshirt and sweatpants that may be the comfiest thing I ever own. My mom got a magnet and a free pendant and a free bag and a free pin and a free pen because she likes free things. I’m unofficially committed. It doesn’t terrify me the way I thought it would.
We came back to the hotel and napped until like 4 o’clock, then decided on dinner at Buca de Beppi. SO MUCH FOOD. And it was all amazing. But because it was so much, we now have almost all my spaghetti, half a meatball, three pieces of garlic bread, two pieces of chicken covered in ham from my mom’s dinner, and half the double dark chocolate cake I ordered despite being so full. (I regret nothing.)
We went for a bit of a walk in Station Square while we waited for our shuttle. My mom took pictures of the Hard Rock, which we ate at in June, and the city in general and me. We talked a lot about people and my blogging and possibly going to BEA and life and about all the food we just ate.
We came back to the hotel and went to the pool for almost 2 hours, which mostly meant about 45 minute in the hot tub and another hour of reading.
I really love this city. It’s stunning and full of friendly people and good food and I just…feel like I’m home. As nervous as I was to come, I’m kind of terrified to leave, knowing I won’t be back until July or August.
