I’m watching the Oscars, for God knows what reason. Hugo has won 4 Oscars, The Help has won 1, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has won 1. All three are movies based off books. There might’ve been an acknowledgement of the author of The Help, but none for the other two that anyone has found.
This is pretty frustrating for a book person. The authors CREATED the books. Maybe they didn’t write the script and weren’t involved in the movie process, but they created the story. They created the world. They created your character. Everyone else just translated it to the big screen. That movie you just won an Oscar for wouldn’t have been possible without the author.
Bringing up the book/author is especially important for a movie like Hugo, where a lot of people don’t know it’s based off the book because the book’s a bit older, meant for a younger audience, and isn’t called Hugo.
It’s just frustrating. I know you have a lot of people to make, but he’s kind of one of the important ones. You can squeeze that extra name in there, no?
